Corrian Dearman, affectionately known as “P.K.'', is an African American Tuba player and educator that has but one goal: to be better. Corrian has used this mindset to achieve some of his most prestigious goals throughout the 12 years that he has been playing and teaching Tuba. Just from 2018, the beginning of Corrian's undergraduate degree, he has achieved playing in the University of North Texas Concert Band, Brass Band, Wind Ensemble, and Wind Orchestra. He also has had the opportunity to be a part of some prestigious extracurricular ensembles such as the Honors Performance Series Symphony Orchestra at Carnegie Hall, as well as being a member of the Disney All-American College Band in California. Not to mention, He has also achieved being in the Texas High School All-State Band 3 times in a row in 2016-2018. Corrian is excited for his future as he graduates in May of 2023 with the hopes of further pursuing his career at Baylor University in the Fall of 2023. Corrian is most confident in his work ethic. Throughout the years of his undergraduate degree, Corrian's priorities lay in refining his playing by exploring several different varieties of repertoire that there are for Tuba and band music in general. Being taught by Bridget Walker, Dale Fremin, Don Little, Matt Good, and Zach Marley (to name a few), Corrian was propelled into the world of professional musicianship and felt confident that his goals would be achieved with teachers of such a high caliber as these. The combination of his work ethic and the inspiration received from most of his teachers has resulted in him having a significant fondness for standard, contemporary, and jazz Tuba playing. Corrian has also been an educator since the fall of 2018 as a Marching Band technician for the Katy High School marching band as well as a private lesson instructor for Dallas ISD. Recently, Corrian has started teaching Private Lessons in Katy I.S.D. as well as Cy-fair I.S.D. in Houston, TX. He has made several efforts to be as effective of a teacher and leader by example as he can. Corrian's main teaching throughout all of his lessons is that Music, in it of itself, is a language. Each and every piece ever composed is its own story. And a language can be learned the same way one learns how to speak: expose your eyes and your ears to the masters of that language. He believes this principle can be applied to a myriad of different goals but chooses to express this mainly from a musical standpoint.

Corrian has always wanted to be the best Tuba player and educator that he can be. He finds music to be the best way for himself to contribute to congregation for a common purpose, as well as it being an inner peace that can't quite be achieved by words alone. With this in mind, Corrian has also had the luxurious opportunity to work with renowned composers and performers such as Gordin Goodwin, Wayne Bergeron, The Barcelona Clarinet Players, Quinn Mason, and Jack Stamp.

In his spare time, Corrian likes to play video games with his best friends as well as compose beats. He also enjoys exploring different recipes to try out from TikTok, rewatching notorious Marvel movies, and visiting his now 8-year-old niece whenever it is possible.
